Rayo 5kWh Portable Power Station: Understand the Specs Before You Buy

This product is more accurately positioned as a 5kWh mobile energy platform—not a single machine powering all appliances. It supports selected loads when battery chemistry, output voltage, charging input, external expansion, and installation requirements are met.
The most critical purchase decision is understanding what each number means: 5000Wh (5kWh) is the nominal capacity. Use this simplified formula for range planning: Estimated Range = Usable Energy ÷ Average Load.
"Available" is key: inverters consume energy during DC-to-AC conversion, and the battery management system may reserve capacity to protect cells. Temperature, battery age, wire gauge, startup surge current, and cycle settings all affect actual usable energy.
A 5kW inverter can sustain its rated power under specified conditions, but this does not mean any combination of appliances with a total power below 5000W will work properly. Motors, compressors, water pumps, welders, air conditioners, and power tools all have high startup surge currents. When selecting an inverter, base your calculation on the startup power requirement, not just the rated power.
